*Inspiring Youth Towards Defence Careers* *Patanjali Rishikul* hosted an enlightening and inspiring session by Dr. Manish Singh, Scientist E under the Ministry of Defence and a member of the Services Selection Board (SSB), Prayagraj. Describing the Army as a way of life, Dr. Singh encouraged students to look beyond societal and monetary definitions of success and strive for purpose, self-satisfaction, and service to the nation. The session provided valuable insights into various defence career opportunities, including both UPSC and non-UPSC entries into the Armed Forces, along with a detailed understanding of the SSB selection process and the officer-like qualities required for a successful defence career. Emphasising the values of Devotion, Dedication, and Determination, he highlighted essential qualities such as honesty, integrity, self-confidence, social adaptability, leadership, people skills, and intelligence. Dr. Singh also introduced students to modern dimensions of defence and leadership, including psychological assessment techniques, Situation Reaction Tests (SRTs), evolving drone warfare, and the role of Gen Z cognitive leadership in modern combat scenarios. Concluding the session with the inspiring words, “Practice matters — apply it in every walk of life,” he motivated students to become disciplined, responsible, and purpose-driven individuals committed to serving society and the nation.
